Jaakko Laitinen & Väärä Raha (False Money) has been making people laugh, cry and dance since 2009. The band’s music is an unique fusion world music of various ingredients marinated in special sauces, main elements being the Balkan grooves, and old Finnish tango and humppa. The band consists of vocal, trumpet, bouzouki, accordion, double bass and drums. The songs being 99 % own compositions, with love and it´s bitter beauty as a main theme in lyrics, including other key elements of life, like mortality, the deceptive glow of memories, the swaying earthly happiness and the inexorable vanity of our ambitions. Joy and sorrow are engaged in the rhythms and melodies, just like in life itself.
The Lapland-Balkan band has released six critically acclaimed albums, but is most of all known for it’s wild live shows. The band fits perfectly in the hippest Helsinki dance floors and rough village parties of Lapland and has toured more than 20 countries around Europe.
