Steve’n’Seagulls is a Finnish band founded in 2010. The band’s music has been described and attempted to be categorized in various ways, but the closest genres include newgrass, country, rock, and at least in terms of instrumentation, bluegrass as well. The array of instruments showcased during their performances has been extensive from the beginning; banjo, mandolin, drums, double bass, accordion, guitar, flute, and other instruments change hands among the band members, sometimes even mid-performance. Over time, the band has evolved into a polished and atmosphere-elevating ensemble that travels around the globe, delivering the joy of music straight from the cold North. While initially known for rearranging rock and metal classics, the band has presented its original compositions in its last three albums to international audiences.
In the summer of 2014, Steve’n’Seagulls gathered in the countryside to film a few videos, showcasing their interpretations of some heavier music classics. These videos were uploaded to their YouTube channel, introducing the band’s unique sound and down-to-earth nature. The third video, a banjo-driven version of AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck,” gained unprecedented popularity worldwide and has garnered nearly 140 million views on YouTube to date. In total, the band’s music videos have been viewed over 270 million times on YouTube alone. The videos also made their way to international music publications such as Guitar World, Revolver, Loudwire, Blabbermouth, Metal Injection, and Metal Sucks. Soon, millions of people wanted to know what this band was all about. This path led the band to perform in over 30 countries, across four continents, and embark on extensive international tours.
